Defender Phil Jones has claimed Manchester United won't slip up this season like last year in their quest to win add another Premier League trophy in their kitty.
On three of the previous four occasions Sir Alex Ferguson's men have gone on to secure the championship and currently with a six-point lead over nearest rivals Manchester City , they have been installed as favourites to take the title back across town.
But Jones says the mental scars of last season, when they threw away an eight-point lead over City with just six games left, will mean no complacency will be allowed to creep in
"I don't think we can think like that. There are numerous games left yet. Last season was a prime example so we have got to keep on our toes and play the way we did against Sunderland," the Daily Express quoted Jones, as saying.
"We're in a great position in the league now, but we need to maintain our good form and ensure we stay there," he added.
"We have a real impetus from winning the derby match against City and now we must make the most of the position we are in," he said.
Jones knows last season's dramatic final day agony, when they thought they had won the title, only to be denied by Sergio Aguero's added time winner for City against QPR is fuelling United's title drive.
Jones said: "It was crazy to be part of that final day. You went from high to low in the space of about 10 seconds. We thought we'd done it and then we hadn't.
"But I think we've bounced back from that, got over it and started the season really well, albeit with a few hiccups here and there, and now we're in a strong position," he added. (ANI)
