ALBAWABA - The sudden death of Turkish actress Ece İrtem continues to raise questions as new details emerge about her final days.
The actress, who was known to television audiences through productions including Kızılcık Şerbeti, died at the age of 35 shortly after returning to Türkiye from a trip to Thailand. Her unexpected death shocked fans, colleagues, and the Turkish entertainment industry.
While authorities continue to await the final autopsy findings, a new claim has now become part of the ongoing investigation.
According to Turkish media reports, Ece İrtem's lawyer, Uğur Gökçüyün, has formally requested that prosecutors examine whether a monkey bite she allegedly suffered during her trip to Thailand could have played a role in her death.
The claim emerged after information provided by the actress's family.
According to statements cited in Turkish media, İrtem's mother said her daughter began experiencing serious stomach problems while she was in Thailand. The discomfort reportedly continued after she returned to Türkiye.
Her mother also revealed details about the actress's final birthday celebration.
According to her account, Ece initially did not want to attend the gathering because she was feeling unwell. However, after encouragement from friends, she decided to join the celebration.
Despite attending the event, her condition reportedly worsened during the evening. She eventually left the gathering early and returned home with her mother.
Just one day later, tragedy struck.
After her death, family members reportedly informed authorities that a monkey had bitten Ece during her Thailand trip. Lawyer Uğur Gökçüyün observed three marks on the actress's left arm.
The family requested the inclusion of this detail in the investigation, according to the lawyer's written statement. He explained that consultations with medical specialists suggested that monkey bites can, in some cases, lead to severe infections, blood poisoning, or other serious complications if not properly treated.
Based on this information, he submitted a formal request asking prosecutors to consider the possibility when reviewing the autopsy findings and determining the cause of death.
The lawyer said the theory is just one of many possibilities and that the final conclusion should be based on scientific and medical evidence.
So far, Turkish authorities have not confirmed any connection between the alleged monkey bite and the actress's death.
No official cause of death has been announced.

The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office is continuing its investigation, and the final autopsy report is expected to provide clarity regarding what happened.
The case has attracted significant public attention because of the actress's young age and the sudden nature of her death.
As speculation continues on social media, authorities and legal representatives have urged the public to wait for the official medical findings before drawing conclusions.
For now, the monkey bite claim remains one of the possibilities being examined, while investigators continue working to determine the exact cause of Ece İrtem's tragic death.
