More than 90,000 security and specialty forces will be deployed across France during the Euro 2016 football championship this summer, Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve said Wednesday.

Some 77,000 French state forces and 13,000 private security officers will contribute to keeping the matches safe, including first responders, fire fighters and special forces agents that will be assigned to travel with teams.

In addition to at least two special forces agents, the 24 football teams will also be accompanied by eight police members from their home countries who will coordinate with the French, the Interior Ministry said.

"No one, and especially not the terrorists, will stop us from living a normal life," Cazeneuve said. He added that labour strikes and demonstrations that have rattled France for months represent no threat to the tournament.

Millions of spectators are expected for the tournament, which takes place from June 10-July 10.

France has beefed up security after the November 13 terror attacks in Paris, with three suicide bombers blowing themselves up outside the Stade de France where France were playing Germany at the time.
