Riyad Mahrez has described the collapse of Tottenham's title bid as the "funniest moment" from last season.

Leicester City and Spurs were both chasing a first ever Premier League title as the campaign entered May and the north London side needed to beat Chelsea to stay in the race.

Goals from Harry Kane and Heung-min Son before half-time put Spurs on course for a first league win at Stamford Bridge in 26 years, only for Gary Cahill and a stunning strike from Eden Hazard to force a draw amid ugly scenes and hand Leicester City the title.

Television cameras were at Jamie Vardy's house to take in the reaction live and the full-time whistle signaled wild scenes in the Leicester striker's kitchen and now Mahrez has recalled the moment.

"The funniest moment [of last season]? I think it was when Tottenham were 2-0 ahead of Chelsea," he told FourFourTwo.

"All the team were at [Jamie] Vardy's house thinking 'we're probably not going to be champions tonight.

"I was like, 'What's the point of coming?!' and then 2-1, 2-2... it was funny."

Mahrez was recently ranked as the seventh-best player in the world in Goal 50 but, along with his Leicester City team-mates, has struggled this season in what is to date the worst-ever defence of a Premier League title.
