Amid the euphoria over Marcus Stoinis's heroics with the bat and the ball in the Delhi Capitals' stunning win over the Kings XI Punjab, you could be forgiven for ignoring the role played by Kagiso Rabada, the quite young man who occasionally lets out a roar after rattling the stumps with his scorching pace.
Having rescued the Capitals with a brutal 53 off 21 balls, taking the team from 96/6 to 157/8, Stoinis returned in the final over of the Kings XI Punjab innings, claiming two wickets to take the match into a Super Over.
It was then that Rabada rose to the occasion, like he famously did against the Kolkata Knight Riders last season.
The South African star took two wickets in three balls, allowing his captain Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant to complete the formalities by scoring just three runs in their Super Over.
Despite playing such an important role in the night at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Rabada admitted he would not have become a hero in the Super Over without the herculean efforts from Stoinis.
"I think it was incredible batting by Stoinis. He played an unbelievable innings towards the end to get us to a respectable total," Rabada said.
"What a day Stoinis had - he bowled two full tosses and got two wickets so it was his day. And from there, I think we took our opportunity to win that game!"
The 25-year-old fast bowler revealed he had no special plans for Kings XI skipper KL Rahul and Nicholas Pooran in the Super Over.
After Rahul got off to a fine start off the first ball with two runs, Rabada hit back with a short ball as the Kings XI captain was caught in the deep. Then he bowled Pooran in the next ball.
"You don't plan anything. I don't plan to win, but instead I plan to execute to win, and I think I managed to do that well in the Super Over," said Rabada whose 25 wickets last season took the Delhi Capitals to the playoffs.
"That's just the way a game of cricket goes. Honestly it was a big relief because I knew if I did that, and with the kind of batters we have, three runs to win, we could do that. I was just very relieved that I took the wicket and could help the team in winning!
Rabada hopes the team's top order will find their top form when they play their next game against the Chennai Super Kings on Friday.
"Unfortunately our top order couldn't do it this time, but we know all of them are quality players and will click in the upcoming games. So, you know, happy for the win but there's still a long way to go in this tournament," he said.
