Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain is on the verge of completing a transfer to Arsenal, his agent has revealed.
It emerged on Friday that the Gunners are close to sealing a €24 million move for the 25-year-old, having already agreed on a salary of £100,000-a-week.
Juventus had been in the race to sign the Argentine, but their impending capture of Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez suggests they have dropped out of the running, a notion that has been confirmed by Higuain's representative.
"I think that Higuain is now closer to Arsenal," Nicolas Higuain told TuttoMercatoWeb.
"Juventus are a great club, but Gonzalo is too expensive for them."
Napoli were also thought be considering Higuain as a replacement for Edinson Cavani should the Uruguayan complete his anticipated move to Real Madrid, but the player's brother admits Arsenal are leading the chase.
"Napoli are a strong side and that place represents a lot for Argentines," he continued. "Saying that, I can’t deny that Gonzalo is now close to Arsenal."
