Portugal secured their first win of the current World Cup after thrashing Uzbekistan 5-0 today at the Houston Stadium in the USA, in the second round of Group K.
Led by a brilliant brace from star Cristiano Ronaldo and goals from his teammates, Portugal completely dominated the match. They collected 3 crucial points before their battle for the top spot against Colombia in the third round.

Despite some shy attempts and a disallowed goal for Uzbekistan, quality made the difference on the pitch, and the better team, Portugal, took the win.
Portugal opened the scoring in the 6th minute through Cristiano Ronaldo. Nuno Mendes then added a second goal with a perfectly executed direct free-kick in the 17th minute. Ronaldo wrapped up the first half by scoring the third goal, his second of the night in the 39th minute.
In the second half, Bruno Fernandes took a low corner kick that confused the Uzbek defense, leading to an own goal by Abduvohid Nematov in the 60th minute. Substitute Rafael Leao ended the goal fest with a wonderful strike into the back of the net in the 87th minute.
