After playing 30 minutes with AS Roma during a goalless draw at home to BATE Borisov, Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah revealed that he felt fear during his appearance with the team Wednesday as he remembered his recent injury and the long time he was sidelined.
The 23-year-old made his first appearance in a month after recovering from injury as AS Roma advanced to the Champions League final 16, despite being held to a 0-0 draw at home to BATE Borisov Wednesday.
Salah, who had been out of action since suffering an ankle ligament injury in the Rome derby against Lazio 8 November, started on the bench before being introduced on the hour mark, replacing Juan Iturbe.
"I felt fear after participating in the game as I still remember the injury, but after a short time I felt confident," Salah told a television programme after the game.
"I think I will play the full time next game as usual,"
Roma, who are fourth in the Italy Serie A team table with 28 points, four points behind leaders Inter Milan, will face Napoli in the 16th matchday Sunday.
"We need to win the coming game against Napoli to reduce the number gap with Inter Milan," Salah said.
The Egyptian international Salah, who joined Roma this summer, produced a string of strong displays with the Serie A giants, scoring five goals in 11 appearances so far.
"I feel comfortable here with Roma, so I am happy to be here with this team and I hope to collect trophies to draw a history for ourselves and to bless our fans," Salah concluded.
