ALBAWABA - A passenger aircraft crashed in eastern France, local media reported Sunday. At least 11 people were killed, Yves Seguy, prefect of Meurthe-et-Moselle, said.
A civilian plane crashed on Sunday near the town of Tomblaine, in eastern France, authorities revealed. The aircraft crashed at around 11 a.m. local time on Allende Street in Tomblaine, near Nancy-Essey airport, according to French newspaper L'Est Républicain.
First responders, rescue teams and firefighters were dispatched to the location of the plane crash.
Police called on civilians to "strictly avoid" the area around the airport in the city.
Moreover, local media noted that the plane was reportedly carrying a group of people on a skydiving trip before it crashed.
France's Minister of the Interior is expected to be at the scene at 4:30 p.m. local time.
Despite some reports saying the victims were self-employed nurses, Yves Seguy didn't confirm the identities of the deaths, nor their jobs.
