Real Madrid (0-0-0) have struggled so far this season and after a weekend loss to rivals Atletico Madrid the defending European champions will be looking to right their ship. Carlo Ancelotti is expected to pull out all the stops to ensure his club get off to a winning return to Europe.
Toni Kroos and James Rodriguez are expected to be handed their European debuts for the club while Sami Khedira, Jese and Daniel Carvajal are all expected to be unavailable through injury.
FC Basel (0-0-0) may not be the biggest club in this year’s competition but they have always proved to be a tricky side in Europe. Much more so when playing at home than away, look for the Swiss club to fight to the end but ultimately succumb to the might of Madrid.
The Swiss side have a full side to choose from with no injury concerns. Only Marcelon Diaz is unavailable because of suspension.
