Two Omani referees, Abdullah al Hilali and Abu Bakar al Amri, have been honoured recently by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) for their contribution and good work during the past season.
Hilali was honoured by AFC secretary John Windsor at a referees workshop held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia last week. Hilali had officiated games in the Asian Champions League, AFC Cup and the World Cup qualifiers in the last season.
Amri was honoured with the AFC Special Awards for referees during the AFC annual awards gala that was held in New Delhi, India recently.
Amri was among the trio, led by Saudi Arabia’s Fahad al Mirdasi, that officiated at the 2015 FIFA U20 World Cup final. Amri was the assistant referee in the final, which was won by Serbia. The Serbs defeated Brazil 2-1 after extra-time.
