Algerian international of Leicester City (England Premier League), Riyad Mahrez has been crowned BBC African Footballer of the Year 2016, BBC announced Monday.
Riyad Mahrez and Senegal’s Sadio Mané were finalists of the poll following the elimination of the other five nominees.
Leicester City’s Mahrez was nominated alongside Gabonese Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Ghana’s André Ayew, Senegal’s Sadio Mané and Ivory Coast Yaya Touré.
The BBC highlighted Mahrez "stunning capacity" in football skills. This award is added to Mahrez cabinet for his renowned performances at the international level.
With 17 goals in the Premier League during the 2015/2016 season and 11 assists, Riyad Mahrez was elected the Player of the Year in England by the Association of Professional Football Players.
