Bad guys in movies have all the fun, zipping past slow-poke police in sexy, shiny cars that would do James Bond proud. Things get switched up on the turbo-charged streets of the Middle East where simple cop car chases can look like a testosterone-fueled game of Grand Theft Auto - only here it’s the police behind the wheels of a fancy fleet of supercars!

The trend is especially true in our oil-rich Gulf states, where newly-developed cities have roads purpose-built to handle all types of souped up cars. (That’s probably why auto-racing action film “The Fast and the Furious 7” shot some of its scenes on the streets of Abu Dhabi.)

Wealthy governments (and civic-minded anonymous donors!) splash a fortune on pimping out police force rides, adding luxurious Ferraris, Porsches, and Bentleys to their fleet of conventional cop cars. Only one superhero car can top those super patrol cars; we’re talking about the Batmobile, of course!

Here are the 12 most extravagant cop cars cruising Middle Eastern streets today. Who says justice isn't swift?

Dubai Police have a special Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 designed to their unique specifications and painted in force colors of bright white and green. The sexy patrol car has a V12 engine pumping out 700 hp at 8250 rpm acceleration. It jumps from standstill to 100 Km/h in 2.9 seconds, and can reach top speeds of 350 Km/h!

While Dubai’s police use their super-wheels mainly for public relations, their Abu Dhabi counterparts actually race their cars. Find YouTube videos of their Nissan GT-R and Chevrolet Camaro (pictured here) battling it out in a drag race. Seems the Abu Dhabi police fleet isn't reserved exclusively for picture-taking and baby-kissing!

The Porsche Panamera is the the fastest police cruiser in Qatar, reaching 100 km/h in only 4.1 seconds! Let’s hope the force got a favorable discount on the $175,000 sticker price, as the Qatari government was once a 10% shareholder in Porsche SE.

Qatar officially unveiled the Ferrari FF patrol car in 2013, a week after Lamborghini Aventador joined their fleet. We think FF stands for Furious Ferrari, because it's the first and only V12 in the world to sport a seven-speed dual-clutch F1 gearbox and it boasts a 20% increase in power with a 25% reduction in fuel consumption. Nice one, Doha!

Abu Dhabi cops use the powerful Nissan GTR - nicknamed “Godzilla” by its makers - mostly for promotional purposes and - rarely - as a chase car or for undercover operations. It has a 3.8-liter twin-turbo V6 engine mated with a 6-speed auto transmission system. Only 4 master craftsmen in the world are allowed to hand-assemble the car’s engine!

A red and white Rolls-Royce Phantom may actually be one of the more practical exotic police cars in Abu Dhabi; the four-door sedan has plenty of room for criminals to get cozy! The 6.75-liter V12 provides enough power for action-packed car chases, but it's used primarily for public media events.

The Aston Martin One-77 super-car joined the Dubai police fleet in 2013. With an estimated value of $1.8 million USD , it was allegedly donated by one of the emirate’s wealthy residents. The car (of which only 77 were ever built) boasts a 7.3-liter V12 engine with 750 hp and will be used in popular tourist areas to help promote Dubai.

Are these cars meant to show off the police force or the financial force of this glittering emirate? Super-cars like the $200,000 Bentley Continental GT coupe aren’t used to chase Dubai baddies, but rather for patrolling the city’s touristic areas around the Burj Kalifa, Dubai Mall, Jumeirah Beach Residence, and the Burj Al Arab.

Finding the hot police cars like the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG is a bit like spotting Mickey at a Disney park - rarely seen but much coveted, the cars frequently appear in tourist selfies and YouTube videos. Dubai police claim the vehicle helps with community outreach.
