Sudan Protests Escalate as 20 Killed in Clashes With Police

About 20 protesters were killed and dozens injured since Saturday in a sit-in outside Sudan's Defence Ministry as they were calling on President Omar al Bashir to step down.

There have been sustained protests against the Sudanese president and his National Congress Party since 19 December 2018. Security forces fired teargas, stun grenades and live bullets to disperse protesters.
