The brand new National Museum of Qatar looks like someone chucked a load of giant white plates by the roadside in the middle of Doha.

The French architect Jean Nouvel said his design for the National Museum of Qatar was inspired by a desert rose.

The Museum has been praised around the world. The museum opens with surprises at every turn. It is meant to reflect national identity for locals, is designed to tell the story of the country's history and its ambitions for the future.
