Widespread protests over miserable living conditions in southern Iraq continue.
Iraqis taking to the streets protest against rising unemployment, corruption, poor governance and perceived Iranian interference. Iraq protesters demonstrators blame bad government, bad roads, bad weather, bad people.
The scale and ferocity of the protests have seen security forces use live ammunition, tear gas, and water cannon on the crowds.
Dozens of demonstrators were wounded as the ongoing protests hit several Iraqi provinces including Basra, despite the announcement of Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi of fresh funds and pledges of investment for the oil-rich but neglected region.
