In line with its corporate social responsibility strategy, First Gulf Bank (FGB), one of the leading banks in the UAE, recently initiated a road safety campaign, which coincided with the UN Global Road Safety Week, in which school students were invited to experience the GT Junior attraction at Ferrari World Abu Dhabi (FWAD).

The aim of this campaign was to educate young children on the rules of the road, the importance of seat belts and responsible driving. School children from Al Shamkha Primary School and Sas Al Nakhel Primary School visited FWAD to experience the Junior GT ride which is sponsored by FGB.

At the Junior GT ride young drivers watched an educational film on the rules of the road and received instructions from trained experts, before going behind the wheel of a Ferrari 430GT Spider to experience real driving conditions for the first time at a reduced and safe speed.

Abdulwahed Juma, Head of Corporate Affairs commenting on the initiative stated: “FGB decided to sponsor the Junior GT Ride because we believe that it is never too early to start teaching children basic road safety and to help instil a sense of responsible driving to guarantee future safety on our roads. Through our sponsorship of the Junior GT ride at Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, we hope that youngsters will enjoy the experience and learn how to drive safely.”

He added, “This initiative is in line with FGB’s ongoing commitment to adopt best practices that contribute to and enrich the community which in turn supports the development of the economy.”

Melanie Kocsis, a teacher from Al Shamkha Primary School, commenting during the visit said; “We found the visit to Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, highly beneficial and valuable to our students, it built on other awareness campaigns which local government authorities are currently implementing to educate youngsters on the importance of driving safely and how crucial it is to adhere to the rules of the road.

FGB recently entered into a three year partnership agreement with FWAD to be the only official bank to offer services at the theme park. The agreement also includes the sponsorship of the Junior GT ride.
