ALBAWABA - Videos filled social media showing chaos during a protest in Minneapolis on Saturday, with the name Jake Lang being recognized as an American man attacked by rioters.

What happened in Minneapolis?

Jake Lang planned a demonstration in Minneapolis, which had been witnessing massive protests against the presence of ICE agents following the fatal shooting of Renee Nicole Good. She was shot dead on January 7, 2026, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, triggering anger of people amid huge arrests and deportations.

The Guardian reported that according to data published by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the administration has arrested more than 328,000 and deported nearly 327,000.

Jake Lang had organized a rally called "March Against Minnesota Fraud" in the Cedar-Riverside neighborhood on Jan. 17. The Sunday Guardian said that organizers saod the event would be peaceful, but community leaders have voiced serious concerns, considering the background of Jake Lang and his political journey in 2021.

However, riots broke out in the protests, causing clashes between the Jake Lang group and "Minneapolis rioters". He was attacked and mobbed according to videos as people were chanting "F+ck you nazi," swinging, shoving, in chaos.

Jake Lang posted a picture on his X account and wrote, "I was almost ripped LIMB FROM LIMB!!! My pants leg literally being ripped off… 😡 DEATH BEFORE DISHONOR & REPLACEMENT ✝️ 'The LORD is my Rock & my Strength, and HE hath delivered me from the mouth of the lions.'"

What to know about Jake Lang

Jake Lang is a controversial right-wing activist and a former January 6 Capitol riot defendant.

He is best known for his involvement in the Capitol Riot attack on January 6, 2021, when pro-Donald Trump supporters said elections were rigged by the Democrats after the announcement of Joe Biden as the winner of the U.S. Presidential election.

Jake Lang was charged with 11 criminal offenses linked to the riot, including civil disorder, obstruction of an official proceeding, and assaulting law enforcement officers by Federal authorities.

Prosecutors also reportedly said that the anti-Islam activist attacked policemen using a baseball bat and a riot shield during the breach of the Capitol in 2021.

On the other hand, Lang never faced trial. Instead, he spent about 4 years in pretrial detention, during which he repeatedly delayed court proceedings. He was released last January, when Trump ordered a sweeping pardon covering nearly 1,600 January 6 defendants.
