ALBAWABA - Khalifa Haftar’s intelligence head was assassinated in Benghazi by a car bomb on Tuesday, the Libyan army announced in a statement.
Fawzi al-Mansouri was the head of military intelligence for the Libyan National Army (LNA), which has been in conflict with the UN-backed and recognized Abdulhamid Dbeibah administration in Tripoli since Gaddafi's ousting in 2011.
Mansouri was killed by an explosive device attached to his truck, which was detonated as he was leaving after prayers from a local mosque in eastern Benghazi at night, according to a statement by the Libyan Army.
The LNA did not identify or give any hints toward those responsible for the bombing, as no party claimed responsibility, saying instead that it was “a cowardly and criminal act”, adding in a statement:
“We will not cease fighting terrorism and will continue our struggle for the stability and security of Libya, as well as for the unification of its institutions," they said.
