ALBAWABA - At a daily news conference, White House National Security Communications Advisor John Kirby assessed the most recent developments in Gaza.
Regarding the current cease-fire proposal from Hamas, Kirby said, "This proposal falls within the boundaries of the agreement we have been working on for the past few months."
Kirby emphasized his satisfaction and his expectation for a speedy ceasefire deal, noting the presence of another group that was on its way to Qatar and the increased efforts being made for a temporary truce.
The release of detainees and the immediate delivery of humanitarian goods to Gaza might result from a ceasefire agreement, Kirby noted. "While we cautiously remain optimistic as this process moves in a positive direction, it's not over until it's over; we must stay engaged until the end," Kirby stated.
Secretary of State of the United States Antony Blinken said that they are putting a lot of effort into bridging the divide between Israel's and Hamas' suggestions for a ceasefire.
In a Vienna meeting with Alexander Schallenberg, his Austrian counterpart, Blinken said, "We are working intensively with Israel, Qatar, and Egypt to close the gap and reach an agreement."
As was previously mentioned, the three six-week phases that comprised Hamas' proposed ceasefire for Gaza were as follows.
