ALBAWABA - Amid continued Israeli airstrikes since October 7th, an aid vessel carrying 200 tons of vital supplies from US-based World Central Kitchen and Spanish civil society group Open Arms has reached the Gaza Strip. It is said that the evacuation process for the humanitarian cargo is presently in progress.
According to local sources, the ship docked close to El-Baydar in southwest Gaza, and small boats are helping to unload the supplies so they can be brought ashore. But specific arrangements regarding the delivery of these supplies to northern Gazan communities have not yet been made public.
Arriving on March 12, the ship is the first to bring help by sea to the Gaza Strip, which has been under constant Israeli military bombardment for more than five months. It left Larnaca Port in the Greek Cypriot Administration.
The Israeli army, stressing coordination with both Israeli government and civilian institutions, indicated its willingness to assist the humanitarian effort in reaction to the ship's approach. This development coincides with global worries about Gaza's humanitarian plight and the pressing need for relief access.
