ALBAWABA - The Telegraph reported that a Russian soldier had defected to Ukraine after blowing up the base of his battalion.
The sabotage was carried out by the soldier, a drone pilot going by the call sign "Silver," with assistance from Russian opposition organization "Freedom for Russia" and Ukrainian military intelligence.
"Silver" is shown on camera tossing a grenade into a bunker that contains his commander and other officers' sleeping quarters. After that, he vanished amid the chaos, crossed the front line, and gave himself over to Ukrainian forces.
The defector has given "valuable intelligence" on Russian military deployments and tactics, according to a statement from Kyiv.
"Silver" voiced his displeasure with Russia's operations in Ukraine, pointing to atrocities carried out by his superiors, such as extrajudicial killings and mistreatment of both troops and civilians.
