ALBAWABA - Israeli troops shot and killed Turkish-American activist Ayşenur Ezgi Eygi in the West Bank. After being hit in the head, Eygi, who was taking part in demonstrations against Israeli settlement in the area, passed away in the hospital.
(ANKARA): Israeli troops shot and killed 26-year-old Turkish-American activist Ayşenur Ezgi Eygi during demonstrations in Beita, a town in the West Bank south of Nablus. Eygi was struck in the head by gunfire from Israeli police while taking part in weekly rallies against Israeli settlements, according to sources in Palestinian media.
Eygi was taken to Rafidia Hospital in Nablus, where she was sent to critical care, according to medical sources. The extent of her injuries prevented her from being rescued, even with the best efforts of the medical staff.
According to reports, Israeli authorities deployed tear gas, stun grenades, and live bullets to disperse the demonstrators, which intensified the clash.
The US activist's death at the hands of Israeli troops was denounced by Hussein Sheikh, Secretary of the Palestine Liberation Organization's (PLO) Executive Committee, who also described it as just another instance of the occupation forces' ongoing crimes. He demanded that those in charge face justice in international tribunals.
