ALBAWABA - French newspaper Courier de l'Atlas reported that Khaled Boujemaa, the Tunisian coordinator of the Global Sumud Flotilla convoy, remained in the port of Bizerte in Tunisia, after a dispute with other organizers.
According to the French newspaper, Khaled Boujemaa refrained from joining the Tunisian convoy after learning that an LGBTQ+ member was on board one of the Global Sumud ships.
The Daily Mail also reported that chaos has allegedly erupted among the leadership of the GSF, with reports that Boujemaa defected after learning about the presence of queer member on board.
Two videos were shared in which the Tunisian organizer refused to join after he had complained that members of the Tunisian LGBTQ+ community joined the convoy.
"We were lied to about the identity of some participants in the vanguard of the flotilla, I accuse the organisers of having hidden this aspect from us," Khaled Boujemaa reportedly said, according to a translation by Le Courrier de l’Atlas.
According to the newspaper, Khaled refused to join the ship after he learned about the participation of pro-Palestinian, Saif Ayadi, a 'communist queer militant' who joined the convoy when it stopped off in Tunisia.
About Global Sumud Flotilla:
Global Sumud Flotilla is a move to break the siege imposed by the Israeli government on the Gaza Strip. On Sept. 1, about 20 vessels displaying Palestinian flags and carrying pro-Palestinian activists departed from Barcelona towards Tunisia.
Spanish ships were also joined by the Moroccan participants days later, and they stopped in the Tunisian port of Bizerte before they headed towards Gaza.
