In a decision to achieve equality, The Netherlands has approved a new decision that allows same-sex marriages within the royal family, for example, a Crown Princess can marry a woman and can still become a Queen.
According to the CNN report, Netherlands is the first-ever country to allow same-sex marriages within the royal family as the country’s prime minister Mark Rutte justified that the Dutch crown princess has the right to marry a person of any gender without giving up her right to the throne.

LGBTQ+ activists have hailed this decision saying it is considered a great step towards equality. One wrote: “Congratulations to the Netherlands for affirming equal rights for #LGBTQ+.”
Sources revealed that same-sex marriages in the Netherlands became legal on 1 April 2001 after the bill for the legislation of same-sex marriages was passed in the House of Representatives by 109 votes to 33 late 2000.
However, the bill didn’t include royal family members until the country’s leader legalized it as such.
Same-sex marriage has been legal in the Netherlands since 2001 but it's always been assumed that wouldn't apply to the crown as there would have to be an heir to the throne.

During a letter sent by the country’s prime minister to the parliament, Rutte wrote: “The government believes that the heir can also marry a person of the same sex.”
On the other hand, Dutch law says that royal family members planning to get married must get the parliament's blessing first as many people have let go of their thorns to marry someone without permission.
