ALBAWABA - Prince Harry is said to have launched a veiled attack on Elon Musk, X owner, in the wake of the riots in Southport, United Kingdom, the Daily Mail reported.
According to the British newspaper, Prince Harry and his wife were on a four-day visit to Colombia when the British royal attacked Elon Musk and X in a hidden way over the unrest in the UK following the stabbing attack that killed 3 little girls.
He said: "What happens online within a matter of minutes transfers to the streets. People are acting on information that isn't true."
During a summit on digital responsibility, the Duke of Sussex blamed misinformation which circulated on social media for sparking the disorder which was triggered by far-right who called the authorities to deport immigrants.
Despite that Prince Harry didn't accuse Elon Musk or X of spreading the "misinformation," the Daily Mail claimed that the British royal secretly meant the Tesla owner platform.
"We are no longer debating facts. For as long as people are allowed to spread lies, abuse, harass, then social cohesion as we know it has completely broken down," Prince Harry added.
Over 1,000 have been arrested by British police since the start of the riots in the UK, with some 480 charged and at least 99 sentences given with more cases expected to be investigated.
Southport stabbing attack:
Local media reported that on July 29, the little girls; Bebe King, 6, Elsie Dot Stancombe, 7, and Alice da Silva Aguiar, 9, were stabbed to death at a Taylor Swift-themed dance and yoga event.
BBC reported that eight more children and two adults were injured in the incident. The police arrested a 17-year-old from a village nearby and accused him of carrying out the attack.
Without confirmation, social media users falsely claimed that the suspect was an asylum seeker who arrived in the country last year. A fake name also circulated with the misinformation besides the rumor that the attacker was a Muslim.
However, British media outlets confirmed citing officials that the suspect was born in Wales to Rwandan parents.
