ALBAWABA - A post celebrating placing the Turkish flag reportedly over Aleppo castle was shared by an X account under the name "Esra Erdoğan".
In a post, a Turkish flag was allegedly placed over the Aleppo castle shortly after the Syrian city fell under the control of Syrian opposition groups led by Hay’et Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) which launched an offensive against the regime on November 27.
Hay’et Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) along with other opposition groups announced an operation called "Deterrence of Aggression" against the Syrian regime and they were able to control several towns and cities including Aleppo.
Amid the offensive operation and the airstrikes carried out by Russian forces and the Syrian army, the photo was posted by Esra Erdoğan's X account with the caption: "After 100 years, the flag of the Ottoman Turkish state is flying over the province of Aleppo."
Many were angered by the post believing that the account belonged to Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's daughter, Esra. However, the truth is that the account doesn't belong to the daughter of the Turkish president.
According to an investigation carried out by Misbar, an investigative media outlet, the account only shares posts in the Arabic language. In addition, the woman in the main photo doesn't look like the daughter of Erdoğan.
Misbar was also unable to clarify whether the photo really shows the Turkish flag over Aleppo Castle.
