World leaders react to shooting in a Trump rally

ALBAWABA - Following Donald Trump's "assassination attempt" at a rally in Pennsylvania, some world leaders took to X to express shock, wishing the former president and candidate a speedy recovery.

Former president and current US election candidate Donald Trump had survived what the FBI called a "failed assassination attempt", as he was holding a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, as gunshots rang through the air with special law enforcement officers rushing to protect Trump.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer 

UK's PM took to express shock over the attack. 

"I am appalled by the shocking scenes at President Trump's rally and we send him and his family our best wishes. Political violence in any form has no place in our societies and my thoughts are with all the victims of this attack" Starmer wrote.

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese

Albanese expressed his refusal of violence, saying that it has no place for it in the "democratic process". 

"There is no place for violence in the democratic process. I am relieved to hear reports that former President Trump is now safe" Albanese stated.

French President Emmanuel Macron

President Macron said that the attack was a "tragedy for democracies", adding that he's shaken by the incident.

"My thoughts to President Donald Trump, victim of an assassination attempt, to whom I wish a speedy recovery," Macron added. 

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu

"Sara and I were shocked by the apparent attack on President Trump," Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu wrote on X. "We pray for his safety and speedy recovery".

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni

"I am following with apprehension the updates from Pennsylvania, where the 45th President of the United States Donald Trump was shot during a rally," Meloni stated.

"My solidarity and my best wishes for a speedy recovery go to him, with the hope that the next few months of the electoral campaign will see dialogue and responsibility prevail over hatred and violence," she added.
