ALBAWABA - A huge explosion shook Malta early today, after a blast took place at a fireworks factory.
The explosion was heard and felt across several areas as it caused wide damage kilometres away from the location.
According to media reports, the blast occurred at about 6:30 a.m. in the Salini area, along Triq Tal-Qadi in the limits of Naxxar. First responders rushed to the scene to control the fire and treat any possible injuries.
Videos were shared online showing the moment of the explosion, capturing a huge plume of smoke rising into the sky in its aftermath.
The Lovin Malta website confirmed the explosion and revealed that drone footage following the explosion at the fireworks factory from above was released, showing the scene in the Salini area as emergency services continued work.
There is currently no information on fatalities or injuries.
