ALBAWABA - A bridge under construction in the city of Karbala in Iraq collapsed Saturday evening, killing at least three people and injuring six others, as reported by local officials.
Videos of the collapse flooded social media, capturing the moment the incident occurred and the aftermath it caused. According to Al Arabiya, the Al Atayshi Bridge came crashing down while cars and civilians were below it, killing at least three people, while the severely injured were rushed to nearby hospitals.
Other videos captured how the collapsed bridge crushed several cars, while trapping civilians under it.

Al Atayshi Bridge was supposed to connect Karbala to Iraq's capital city, Baghdad, before its collapse. The deputy head of the Karbala Provincial Council released a statement outlining that an investigation has been launched to determine the circumstances of the accident.
Prime Minister Mr. Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani's account on X (formerly known as Twitter) also said in a statement:
"His Excellency immediately directed the formation of an investigative committee from the High Authority for Coordination between Governorates and the Karbala Governorate to examine the details of the incident, identify those responsible, and determine accountability."
