A US civilian contractor kidnapped by Iraqis west of Baghdad on April 9, has escaped his captors and is now in US custody, Brigadier General Mark Kimmitt told reporters.
"Today at 10:20 am (0620 GMT), Thomas Hamill, an employee of Kellogg, Brown and Root, was recovered by US forces south of Tikrit," Kimmitt said Sunday. "He came out of a building and identified himself to American solders. It looked like it was an escape."
The day after his abduction, Hamill's kidnappers released video footage of him. A spokesman off camera demanded that U.S. troops end their siege of the city of Fallujah, where four American civilians were killed and mutilated last month. (Albawaba.com)
