The UK has planned initiatives to enter into joint military training with the UAE to strengthen bilateral defense relations, a senior British official was quoted as saying by the Gulf News Friday.
Baroness Symons, Britain's Minister for Defense, said that her country will aim to concentrate on bilateral military training opportunities from which shared benefits can be derived in terms of developing the capabilities of both countries' forces.
"It will also improve their ability to work together," she added.
Symons, the first-ever woman minister at the British defense ministry, is visiting Abu Dhabi to attend Idex 2001, said the Gulf News.
“The UK and the UAE enjoy a warm relationship based on close historical connections and shared interests, particularly in the stability of the Gulf.”
The British minister added that her country has a range of training and assistance programs in place with the Gulf Cooperation Countries states, and a number of joint exercises are planned.
"We are always open to ideas for promoting inter-operability and the ability to work together," she added – Albawaba.com
