In UAE: Telethon for Palestinians raises Dh190 million

United Arab Emirates President Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan donated Dh40 million to the Palestinians during the 13-hour telethon organized by the Emirates Media Incorporated (EMI) in Abu Dhabi Friday. 

 

Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces donated Dh30 million. 

 

Sheikh Zayed's other sons donated Dh50 million while Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Wife of Sheikh Zayed and Chairperson of the UAE Women's Federation donated an amount of Dh12 million, according to Gulf News

 

On Friday, the EMI was overwhelmingly flooded with donors from all over the world to show solidarity with besieged Palestinians in the Occupied Territories. 

 

According to the daily, the telethon raised over Dh190 million by midnight and was to continue till 2 a.m. Saturday. 

 

Amongst the many charity organizations, which chipped in at the telethon, was the Sheikh Zayed Foundation for Humanitarian Services and Charitable Activities, which donated a sum of Dh15 million. 

 

Women donated jewelry and other precious valuables, children sacrificed their allowances, men offered cash and institutions auctioned antiques and historical documents, all to show support and solidarity for the just struggle of the Palestinians against the Israeli aggression. (Albawaba.com)
