The president of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan al Nahyan, received on Tuesday a letter from his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Khatami.

The letter was conveyed by visiting Iranian Foreign Minister Kamal Kharazi during a meeting with Sheikh Zayed.

The UAE new agency (WAM) said the letter dealt with the! latest developments in the region, “mainly the continuous Israeli aggression against the Palestinians.”

It also covered ways to promote bilateral relations and comes within the framework of continuous consultations between the leadership of both countries, WAM added.

The UAE and Iran are at loggerheads over three Arabian Gulf islands in the hands of Iran for three decades claimed by both countries. (albawaba.com)
