UAE’s telecom company Etisalat announced Sunday it posted a net profit of Dh2.4 billion ($6.5m), comprising a 21.7 percent increase, reported the official Emirati news agency (WAM).
The company said that the number of fixed-line phones rose from 797,500 in 1999 to 1.02 million in 2000, while the number of mobile phones rose from 832,200 in 1999 to 1.6 million in 2000.
The number of Internet subscribers rose from 126,900 in 1999 to 209,500 by the end of 2000, the company said in a statement – Albawaba.com
