Turkish security forces Tuesday arrested 28 Turkish nationals at the border crossing with Iran after they insulted border officials and pelted them with stones upon entering the country, Anatolia news agency reported.
One soldier was injured when a stone hit him on the head, local officials told the agency, adding that security forces fired shots into the air to restore order at the Gurbulak border gate in the eastern province of Agri.
The incident took place when several men in the group swore - in Kurdish - at paramilitary troops checking their luggage, Anatolia said.
The people in the group were said to live on small-scale trading between Turkey and Iran, bringing in goods on one-day trips across the border.
They were apparently upset with the limits imposed on the amount of goods they were permitted to bring in from Iran. (Albawaba.com)
