ALBAWABA - Syrian authorities announced on Thursday that two people were killed and several others were injured in a traffic accident in Tartus Governorate, Syria.

 According to the Syrian Civil Defense, a train collided with a civilian vehicle, leading to the death of two people, and 11 others were wounded.

The Civil Defense wrote on X, "Two young men died and 11 others were injured in a horrific traffic accident near the town of Al-Muntar in Tartus Governorate, after a train struck a civilian vehicle carrying workers as it was crossing the tracks."

The post added, "The Syrian Civil Defense teams in the Emergency and Disaster Management Directorate responded to the incident, heading to the site and working to remove the stuck car from the railway tracks and secure the area. The injured and the two bodies were transported to hospitals."

The General Directorate of Civil Defense reiterated its call to "adhere to safety procedures and cross railway tracks only at designated crossings, to avoid similar accidents and protect lives."
