ALBAWABA - Trump’s envoy to the Middle East and son-in-law, Jared Kushner, has met with Benjamin Netanyahu in Tel Aviv after meeting Hamas leader Khalil Al-Hayya in Cairo – says that progress on Hamas disarmament could begin in as early as 30 days.

The disarmament of Hamas is currently the biggest hurdle on the road to achieving peace in Gaza as Israel completely refuses any sort of peace framework without that condition; in a gesture of good-will in negotiations, Hamas, in its turn, has agreed to disarmament which could begin in 30 days.

"We could be seeing progress... in as little as 30 days, hopefully starting to take some of the weapons out," Kushner told Fox News.

The disarmament involves not just in the surrender of all weapons but also the filling of the tunnel networks under Gaza which are essential to Hamas’s resistance against Israeli military action; this, Kushner says, could happen in 60 to 90 days.

"Progress could come quite soon but we do need cooperation from both sides," Kushner said, adding that he had a “very cordial” meeting with Khalil Al-Hayya but that it was “very, very hard to trust a terrorist organization.”

The disarmament and dissolution of Hamas is the condition set by the U.S. and Israel for their stated commitment to rebuild Gaza back into a thriving livable city,

"We will not allow Gaza to be rebuilt until the demilitarization occurs. Nobody wants to put more money into a place... if it's just going to be taken over by terrorists," Kushner said regarding the rebuild, adding "We're also not going to restrict Israel's right to defend itself if there are any imminent threats and so we had to clarify what that means."

In an attempt to encourage the hesitant Israeli side, saying they had “valid concerns”,  Kushner said that he views the situation as a “win-win” for them,

Saying that either Hamas peacefully disarms “willingly over the next 60 to 90 days” or Israel will have the full weight of the U.S. “and others” behind any military operation in Gaza “to go and finish the job in the appropriate way.”
