French oil company TotalFinaElf has discovered a new oil deposit in the Murzuk basin around 800 kilometers south of Tripoli in Libya.
A test carried out at the A2 well in Block NC 186 produced flow rates of up to 2,670 barrels per day in light oil, confirming the existence of commercial oil reserves, the company said in a statement, published on its website.
In addition, TotalFinaElf said Libyan authorities had ratified an onshore exploration and production sharing agreement concluded with the Libyan National Oil Corporation covering the NC 191 and NC 192 blocks in the same area - Albawaba.com
