The United States' top military officer said on Sunday that Washington was satisfied with Egypt’s cooperation in the US-led war on terrorism. “Our intelligence sharing (with Cairo) is very good and we could not ask for more from the Egyptian government. They have supported us and essentially in every way we have asked,” said Air Force General Richard Myers, Chairman of the U.S. Military Joint Chiefs of Staff, as quoted by agencies.
Myers, who is in Egypt on the first leg of a three-nation tour of Middle East allies, spoke to reporters after talks with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak. Asked whether he and Mubarak discussed possible U.S. strikes on any other states, Myers said: “We talked a lot more generally than that. We did not talk (about) countries specifically.”
Myers met later with Egyptian military officials, including Defense Minister Field Marshal Mohamed Hussein Tantawi. Myers was due to leave for the United Arab Emirates on Monday morning. He will then head to Jordan before flying back to Washington on Thursday. (Albawaba.com)
