ALBAWABA - Four people, including two children, have been killed in an explosion at a gas station in Grozny, the capital of Chechnya.

The event happened when a gas tank burst, starting a fire at the location, according to information from the Russian emergency services that RT quoted. Not long after it started, firefighters were able to contain the fire.

The big inferno that resulted from the Saturday night explosion at a petrol station on Muhammad Ali Street was caught on camera. The tragedy was covered by the Chechen media, which confirmed that the two youngsters were among the dead.

"The situation is under my personal control," said Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov, adding that an investigating team is on the scene to determine the incident's circumstances. He promised that "all responsible parties will be held accountable according to the law."

The reason of the incident, which has garnered a lot of attention because of the devastating death toll, is presently being looked into by authorities.
