Afghanistan's ruling Taliban militia on Thursday accepted an offer from US civil rights leader Jesse Jackson to mediate between the Islamic regime and the United States, the Afghan Islamic Press reported.
The Taliban ambassador to Pakistan Abdul Salam Zaeef told the Pakistan-based private news agency that Jackson's offer to mediate had been accepted.
"We have not invited him but he offered to mediate and our leader Mullah Mohammad Omar has accepted this offer," Zaeef said.
"He has ordered the authorities to extend cooperation if Jesse Jackson visits Afghanistan. We will have no objection” -- ISLAMABAD (AFP)
