ALBAWABA - A rumor recently spread on social media that FromSoftware's Dark Souls trilogy is getting a remake, developed under the supervision of publisher Bandai Namco. However, the information at hand should be taken with a grain of salt as the source of the leak remains unknown.
This also raised speculation about why Bloodborne isn't getting the same treatment despite several calls from fans who wished that the game be ported to new generation consoles and PC for better performance, in contrast to playing the game on their PS3s at 30 FPS.
The rumor first spread from YouTuber and content creator Shirrako, who took to X (formerly Twitter) and wrote, "Dark Souls Trilogy Remake in development. A reputable source from my mirror reports."
Bandai Namco has not commented on the rumors in question.
Leak claims Dark Souls trilogy remake in development
Shirrako is best known for their YouTube channel with over 2.5 million subscirbers were they post full games with no commentary.
This caused mixed reactions on social media, with several fans pointing out that the games still hold up to this day. However, others felt that both Dark Souls 1 and 2 need remakes to improve gameplay issues and outdated graphics.
A social media user wrote, "lowkey the only games that needs to he remade is ds1 and 2. they're lowkey kinda ugly. ds3 still looks good tho."
Another added, "Anything but bloodborne at this point Sony really does deserve a fate worse than Xbox."
Now that Sony pulled the plug on Bluepoint Games, a former studio best known for remaking Demon's Souls and Shadow of the Colossus, speculations flooded social media on who will be developing the rumored remakes for the Dark Souls trilogy.
Dark Souls 2 remains the most hated out of the trilogy due to several factors, including complaints about gameplay mechanics, level design, and the sheer number of enemies flooding each area. While many hated the game, Dark Souls 2 still has a cult following to this day, with many claiming they wouldn't change a thing about it.
