ALBAWABA - A photojournalist working for the SANA news agency was killed in Hama province in Syria.
The new Syrian authorities on Friday decried the killing of the photographer and stressed the government's commitment to protecting journalists.
AFP reported citing sources close to the victim, that photojournalist Ibrahim Ajaj was kidnapped by two men, then his body was found with gunshot wounds.
The Ministry of Media in Syria condemned the killing of photographer Ibrahim Ajaj, who works for the official SANA agency and affirmed in a statement published on its Telegram channel its full commitment to supporting freedom of the press and protecting journalists as a fundamental right for all.
The Ministry further revealed it will work closely with the Ministry of Interior to probe the crime and hold the perpetrators accountable to ensure justice is served.
