Syrian - Egyptian summit held in Damascus: Assad rebews pledge to cooperate with UN

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak held two meetings Friday morning at Al-Shaab Palace in Damascus. One of these meetings was a closed meeting, SANA reported.

 

Mubarak arrived Friday morning in Damascus for a short visit to discuss mainly the latest developments following the publication of the UN report on the assassination of former Lebanese PM Rafik Al-Hariri, KUNA reported.

 

Following the summit, Syria renewed its readiness to carry on cooperation with the UN probe. "President Bashar al-Assad has renewed Syria's keenness and readiness to continue cooperation with the international investigating committee," a Syrian statement said.

 

It noted that there were an underscoring, "not to politicize the report or direct its not finished results to serve some known parties ends."
