ALBAWABA - Syria has foiled two attempts plotted by ISIS to assassinate President Ahmed Al-Sharaa amid his plans to join a US-led alliance to fight the organization, according to two senior officials.
According to a security official from Syria and a Middle Eastern official, the assassination plots were thwarted over the past few months. This comes after Al-Sharaa's efforts to assert his authority after Syria faced 14 years of civil war.

Additionally, the sources outlined that the ISIS assassination plot was in action due to a "pre-announced official engagement" with Al-Sharaa, but they declined to provide further details about the matter in question. The Syrian information ministry also declined to comment.
The plot came to light ahead of Ahmed Al-Sharaa's historic meeting with US President Donald Trump in the White House on Monday.
