Syria has dismissed the US annual report on terrorism, saying that the US war on terrorism, until now, hasn't yet achieved any positive results, but on the contrary terrorism expands for two main reasons.
A Foreign Ministry's official source stated Sunday that one of these reasons is rejection of the U.S. and Israel to what Syria had repeatedly asserted that combating terrorism must be through uprooting this phenomena and its causes.
"It s impossible to tackle and combat any phenomena whatever its kind without combating its causes," the source confirmed, according to SANA. "The second reason lies in invasion of Iraq that has ensured a new fertile land for terrorism to be aggravated and increased due to inflame of the people's anger and resentment feelings resulted from the occupation of Iraq and the US policies of hegemony," the source added.
"Syria has taken all necessary measures to ensure borders security with Iraq," the source said, adding that US military officials, in advance, gave many statements that contradict what the report has included on that issue.
The source denied as null and void accusations that Syria sponsors terrorism through the Palestinian information offices in Damascus saying that the Palestinian people has proved, through the voting boxes, that Syria has been right regarding distinguishing terrorism from the legitimate right of resistance.
"One cause of the violence that our region is undergoing is the US policies that help persistence of the Israeli occupation and exacerbate the Iraqi people's suffering so the US administration has lost credibility inside the U.S., in the region and the world as a whole." the source concluded.
