A spokesman for the US embassy in Cairo has announced that a roll of paper containing a suspicious powder was found in the washroom on the third floor of the embassy on Tuesday afternoon.
Security forces rushed to evacuate the building, and experts from a US Navy research unit were summoned to conduct the necessary tests to make sure the powder did not contain anthrax bacteria, according to Al Gomhuria newspaper.
The spokesman stressed that the substance was not found in an envelope, but rather a roll of paper, and had no relation with the embassy’s post office.
