Saddam trial to resume on Wednesday following courtroom disruptions
Meanwhile, the trial of former Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein is set to resume on Wednesday after courtroom disruption forced the trial to be put on hold.
The courtroom chaos began with an outburst from one of the defense-team lawyers, who directed a verbal attack at the court’s newly appointed judge, Raouf Abdel-Rahman, calling him a “daughter of a whore.”
Saddam also joined in the screaming match, shouting, "Down with the traitors. Down with America!."
A two-day intermission was later decided upon, though a Muslim holy day may require that proceedings resume on Thursday instead.
