Representatives of the Sudanese government and the rebel Sudan People's Liberation Army (SPLA) were on Monday meeting at a secret venue in Switzerland for talks on a limited ceasefire, Swiss foreign ministry spokeswoman Daniela Stoffel said in Berne on Monday.
Stoffel was quoted by agencies as saying that the talks were expected to last about one week and were attended by about ten senior delegates on each side. She declined, however, either to name the officials or say where the meetings were taking place, in order to ensure that the negotiations were undisturbed.
The discussions were mainly centered on a ceasefire in the Nuba mountain region in the north of southern Sudan, Stoffel told journalists. (Albawaba.com)
